Beaches & Vino

Sounds more like a vacation then an engagement shoot. A couple weeks ago I spent an evening in the Beaches with Erin and Brandon to do their engagement shoot. We had such a great time. Erin's bubbly personality is so infectious it's impossible to not have fun. We started the evening down on the rocks by the water. It's hard to believe we were in the middle of one of Canada's biggest cities.

Wandering around, we stopped by a puddle. Didn't everyone love playing in puddles when they were kids?

For a little variety we took a stroll along Queen Street E. Lots of really neat back drops, including this awesome alley that we almost walked right by.

After stopping for some wine on a local patio we headed back to the beach to grab some twilight shots before calling it a night.
I'm often asked about where to do engagement shoots. The most successful engagement sessions are those that reflect the couple. Think about where you met or what you like to do together. When the place or activity reflects who you really are as a couple, then the photos are more meaningful.

Amy & Kevin's Bike Ride

Tonight I had the pleasure of tagging along with Amy & Kevin to one of their favorite bike riding spots. Despite the chill in the air it was a beautiful night to be out in the park. I'll be shooting their wedding in Huntsville this fall.

Spring is definitely here, and last weekend we did an engagement shoot for my good friend Jerry and his fiance Melbourne. Melbourne chose Kariya Garden in Mississauga as the backdrop for their engagement shoot, and I couldn't think of a prettier place in the spring. The japanese garden, full of flowering trees and asian pagodas was stunning.

To add a little variety to their shoot we did a wardrobe change, and headed to a different location for some edgier shots. I love the silhouette we got in round opening. Now if only Jerry had brought his sax!!!

By the way folks, if any of you are looking for a great jazz band for your wedding or engagement party take a look at Jerry's website - web.mac.com/jquintyne. Jerry and I met almost 30 years ago as students of the Etobicoke School of the Arts and have been great friends ever since. Jerry is a regular performer at Gate403 Jazz Club in Toronto. We are looking forward to shooting Melbourne & Jerry's wedding in Niagara in July.

Karen and Mark Take the Plunge

Karen & Mark Take the Plunge - literally!

Kevin and I were in Holguin Cuba last week to shoot a destination wedding for Andrea & John. While we were there we met Karen and Mark, who asked us to do a trash the dress session after watching Andrea & John's session. We didn't get to know Karen and Mark well, but we had a great time with them during our session and hope that they enjoyed it as much as we did. Here's a quick peak at their session.

Check back soon for shots from Andrea & John's wedding and trash the dress session.

Next - Joanna & JP's wedding at Toronto City Hall.

Sondra & Stephen's Wedding

Saturday was an absolutely perfect day, and Sondra & Stephen were the perfect couple to start off this spring's wedding season. We had a great time with the whole wedding party at Adamson Estates after the ceremony. Congratulations to you both, and thank your for allowing me to be such a large part of your special day.

Jammer 1st Annual Memorial Tournament

As many of you know, my husband Kevin is very heavily involved in Lacrosse. Last May a tragedy hit our Lacrosse Family when one of the young players was injured on the field and later died in hospital. Jamieson Kuhlman was a dedicated and enthusiastic 16 year old who was a talented player and all round great guy. This weekend marks the first annual memorial tournament held in his honour, which Kevin and I were honored to photograph.

Yesterday's highlights, aside from some great field lacrosse, included a ceremony to name one of the new fields at the new Cherry Beach Sports Park the Jamieson Kuhlmann Field. There was also a presentation to the Children's Wish Foundation for $11,500 from the sale of t-shirts and other products during the event.

The tournament continues today. Come out and see some great lacrosse, enjoy the new fields, and help us remember a great player. For more pictures please view our event gallery at http://www.imagesofyou.ca/ = Event Gallery JAMMER, password lacrosse A portion of all print sales will also be donated to the Children's Wish Foundation in Jamieson's name.

Thanks to all the volunteers that made this a successful tournament and a wonderful memorial.
